STEM CELL INJECTIONS

STEM CELL INJECTIONS

Regenerative medicine is a new branch of medicine that aims to use stem cells to cure or prevent organ tissue damage or aging. However, this technique is not practiced in CANADA, ask Dr Coeugniet about eventual alternatives. Stem cells are found in several places in the body, including fat and bone marrow. This emerging branch of medicine, which has already seen many successful cases, is based on cell therapy. After light liposuction (or aspiration of the marrow from the iliac bone) is done, fat stem cells are removed, prepared in a multi-step procedure and reinjected at the desired location, generally in an area of aging skin or an inflammatory or degenerative lesion caused by osteoarthritis or tendonitis.

One of the first successful stem cell injection cases involved the regeneration of a patient’s damaged heart tissue. Many other scientific publications now suggest they are effective in other areas and have repair and anti-aging applications.

Although this technique’s effectiveness isn’t yet formally proven, it is increasingly popular with patients who are highly concerned about their image.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What does this procedure involve?

This procedure is comparable to fat transfer, except that it involves the extraction of stem cells from fat using specialized methods. This procedure is performed under local anesthesia and typically takes two hours if not paired with another surgery, such as a face and neck lift. It has multiple regenerative or aesthetic medicine indications.

What will happen in the days after the procedure?

Bruises may appear. Swelling will also occur and last up to two weeks.

Is a recovery period required?

Yes, but it is short. You can return to work one week after the procedure or even after one weekend.
