Dr Edouard Coeugniet
Since the beginning of his medical practice in 1990, Dr. Édouard Coeugniet has worked with many internationally renowned surgeons, particularly in France, Switzerland, the United States, Canada and Australia.
Recognized for his vast experience and his solid skills in plastic and aesthetic surgery, Dr. Coeugniet is today a renowned plastic surgeon with a clientele that is deeply concerned about their image.
He is a member of the plastic surgery team at the new Montreal CHUM where he is, among other things, part of the Great Burns Unit, of the skin cancer and craniofacial surgery team. Dr. Coeugniet is also director of quality performance of the plastic surgery department of the CHUM and member of the Quality and Performance Committee of the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS).
A medical graduate from the University of Lille, France, and the University of Münster, Germany, Dr. Édouard Coeugniet then specialized in general surgery, then in plastic surgery. He was also ranked second in the French national exam when he obtained his diploma in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery in Paris in 2006.
He obtained his European diploma in plastic surgery and became a Fellow of the European Board of Plastic Surgery (EBOPRAS) in Budapest, Hungary, where he was the first French in the ranking. Subsequently, he left for a year and a half of fellowship in Sydney, Australia. Upon his return, he also became a Fellow of the French College of Plastic Surgery, and then, in 2009, won second place at the National Competition for Hospital Practitioners in Plastic Surgery in Paris.
The same year, he obtained his master’s degree in health economics at the prestigious Paris Descartes University. Afterwards he was appointed referent of the Burns Treatment Center of the University Hospital of Lille, where he will also be a surgeon at the National Center of Expertise in craniomaxillofacial surgery. He is also recognized in Switzerland, where he can practice as a plastic surgeon in exclusive aesthetic clinics.
Fluent in English, German, French and Romanian, Dr Coeugniet has treated patients all over the world. Among the outstanding experiences of his career, he notably participated, in 2010, in a humanitarian mission with Médecins Sans Frontières de la Suisse and INTERPLAST, during which he performed facial and labial reconstructions and treated the after-effects of burns in Congo.
Specializing in facial rejuvenation and rhinoplasty, he is also subspecialized in breast reconstruction, labioplasty (vulvar surgery), microsurgery and craniofacial surgery.

Throughout his career, Dr. Coeugniet has surrounded himself with exceptional mentors with a worldwide reputation. He notably worked with Dr Bryan C. Mendelson, president of the International Society of Cosmetic Surgery in 2008, in Melbourne, Australia. Also, in Australia, he worked alongside Dr Graeme Southwick, cosmetic surgeon, and Dr Anthony Holmes, specialist in facial cosmetic surgery.
In Paris, Dr. Edouard Coeugniet worked with renowned surgeons such as Dr Claude le Louarn, Dr Bernard Cornette de St Cyr and Dr Darina Krastinova. Also in France, he also worked with Professor Lantieri, specialist in facial transplantation, and Professor Gilbert Aiach, specialist in rhinoplasty. Professor Wolfgang Gubisch, specialist in rhinoplasty in Germany, and Dr Michel Pfulg, cosmetic surgeon in Switzerland, are also part of the prestigious list of mentors of Dr Coeugniet.
Passionate and keen to pass on his knowledge, Dr Coeugniet is also a reviewer for six scientific journals, in addition to having published numerous articles himself.
An excellent speaker, he has been invited as a speaker at several conferences around the world. He has participated in more than 300 congresses including, the international congress of aesthetics of Kyoto in Japan (ISAPS 2016), that of the DGPRAC (Deutsche Gesellschaft de Plastischen, Rekonstruktiven und Ästhetischen Chirurgen) in Germany and many other international congresses in Chile, Australia, India, United States and several other countries.
During his career, Dr Édouard Coeugniet has always been keen to train the next generation. Thus, since his second year of medicine, he taught anatomy at the Academy of Münster in Germany, then continued to train the youngest throughout his career in France. Since arriving in Quebec in 2011, he has taught medicine at the University of Montreal.
