A flat stomach refines and slims the silhouette. But time, heredity, lifestyle, anatomy, weight changes or pregnancies can all contribute to the skin on the stomach sagging, stretch marks appearing, or the muscles in the abdominal wall to sag, spread.

After significant weight loss or pregnancy, or as you get older, it is common for a little or more excess skin and / or fat to be found in the stomach area.

Abdominoplasty removes this excess skin as well as fatty tissue. Belly surgery corrects the abdominal wall. Depending on the elasticity of the skin and the straight muscles of the abdominal wall and depending on the size and position of the fat overload, the surgeon will recommend a mini-abdominoplasty (or mini-tummy tuck) or a full abdominoplasty, usually in combination with liposuction. Following this procedure, you will once again be able to enjoy a flat stomach and a beautiful silhouette.

A complete abdominoplasty with liposuction is performed under general anesthesia and lasts approximately 3 or 4 hours. The incision is made under the bikini line, in the lower fold of the stomach, so that the scar is as discreet as possible. The surgeon peels the skin of the belly from the abdominal wall and removes excess fatty tissue and skin. He detaches and reposition the navel then tightens the two right abdominal muscles located below the navel.

The mini abdominoplasty is performed under general anesthesia and lasts approximately 1 or 2 hours. Through a reduced, horizontal incision in the lower abdomen, the surgeon loosens and removes excess skin and subcutaneous fatty tissue without repositioning the umbilicus.

What does this procedure consist of?

An incision will be made in the lower abdomen. Subsequently, the excess tissue and skin will be removed and, finally, the navel will be repositioned.

How long does the intervention last?

There are two types of possible surgeries. Full surgery is done under general anesthesia and takes about three to four hours. As for partial surgery, which is also called “mini-lift”, it is performed under local anesthesia and lasts about an hour.

How will the days after the operation unfold?

Your incisions will be covered with a bandage. To facilitate the evacuation of fluids and blood, temporary drains will be placed under your skin. These will be removed during the postoperative visit scheduled a few days after the operation.

Should I plan for a recovery period?

You can return to work one to two weeks after the procedure, but you may have to wait up to six weeks if your job requires physical labor. Physical activities can be resumed gradually about three weeks later.
